I'm Matt MacDougall the owner of Rocket Web. I use the term owner lightly, this business was definitely given to me by Jesus Christ. I am simply a recipient of grace. I've been involved in making websites since 1993. I did freelance development in high school and college and was involved with making The Ring Disc with a compressed audio format before mp3s. It was very advanced for the time. I now work with some of the same guys from back in those days and have been fortunate to meet many other amazing talented folks since then. Probably my best talent is being able to connect with guys that are way smarter than me. I like to think that I know where we should go but it's definitely the whole Rocket Web team that gets us there.
Magento has been an amazing success in the market and for Rocket Web. I've enjoyed e-commerce for years, frankly because it's easy to gauge success. I don't have much of an eye for design, I know what I like but that's about as far as my design skills go. I do know concepts of engineering pretty well, used to write some code and enjoy understanding how different businesses work. E-commerce is something I easily gravitate to. Magento definitely speaks to the engineer in me and I like having a well thought out pattern and framework to work from. Magento is difficult to learn well but once you've got it down, it's very flexible and maintainable. This translates into being able to meet the business rules of a 1 man shop to a global enterprise.
