Performance Tuning
Rocket Web is passionate about performance. We have taken Magento beyond its performance limits more than once. We hesitate to say we know all the tricks because there's always something new to learn but more often than not, we're the ones teaching. We know that the approved web server Apache is by far not the best solution for Magento when it comes to performance. MySQL from mysql.com doesn't come close to performing as well as MySQL made by Percona. While Magento is very flexible with all the extensions offered through Magento Connect, this is the first place we look when addressing performance issues. Only a few extension developers have the attention to detail and close eye on performance that Rocket Web and Magento Inc. does. It's often many of these extensions that give Magento a bad name when it comes to performance.
Magento can be just as fast or faster than any e-Commerce solution out there. It takes a solution partner like Rocket Web with the know-how and "need for speed" to do it.
Online Strategy
The first php application the owner of Rocket Web built was in 1993 for a company that provided information about healthcare best practices to hospitals. e-Commerce applications followed shortly after along with all sorts of different web sites and applications. Matt started Rocket Web in the beginning of 2010 after focusing on e-Commerce in other organizations for years. Matt and one of Rocket Web's senior development managers Wojtek built their first Magento site in 2008 using version 0.9 before Magento was officially at a production release. The site worked very well and is still around today, of course it's been updated a few times in the past 4 years.
To make a successful store Rocket Web needs to understand how a business works. Since we've done this for so long and worked with companies that are vastly different from each other, we know from experience what works and what doesn't for a particular situation.
